Creating Hollow Hatch
A hollow hatch is a pattern filling outside a closed shape area with a parallel or diagonal lines.
Shapes selectable as hollow hatch areas are lines, polylines, circles, arcs, ellipses, elliptical arcs and B-Splines.
The following 2 methods can be used to create a hollow hatch.
- Specifying an external area where a hatch is to be created and an inner point for an inner area to be hollowed.
- Create an external area, and create a hatch within the area.
To display a command parameter to be executed, click / of command parameters, or press Tab key or ← / → key on the keyboard.
- Point [Hatch] on [Shape] menu, and click [Hollow Hatch].
Then you will be able to create a hollow hatch.

- When setting [Hatch Style] to [User Definition], input a scale along X and Y axes in [Scale] box on Command Window.

- When setting [Hatch Style] to [Gradient] or [User Definition], input the rotation angle in [Angle] box on Command Window.

Specifying inner point for external area and hollow area
- Switch the parameter on Command Window to [Inner Point] box, click a point inside an external area where a hatch is to be created.
A minimum closed area surrounding the clicked point will be searched as an external area.
- Switch the parameter on Command Window to [Inner Point Array in Hollow Area] box, click a point inside a hollow area.
A minimum closed area surrounding the clicked point will be searched as a hollow area.

To specify multiple hollow areas, specify them in order. |
- Press Enter key on the keyboard, or click on the toolbar on Command Window.
A hatch will be created within a specified external area.

When no hatch area is found, an error message of " Hatching area not found" will be displayed. |

In the [Drawing Settings] dialog box, increasing the [Area search tolerance] makes it easier to find the hatched area. |

You can specify the inner point or hollow point array in inner area by inputting X and Y coordinates in [Inner Point] and [Hollow Point Array in Inner Area] boxes on Command Window. |
When specifying the external area
- Switch the parameter on Command Window to [External Area] box, and click shapes to be used as the external area for a hatch in order.
Selected shapes will be specified as an external area.
The number of shapes selected will be displayed in [External Area] box.
- Press Enter key on the keyboard, or click on the toolbar on Command Window.
An external area will be specified.
- Switch the parameter on Command Window to [Hollow Area List] box, and click a shape to be used as a hollow area for a hatch.
- Press Enter key on the keyboard, or click on the toolbar on Command Window.
The selected shape will be specified as a hollow area, and the number of shapes selected will be displayed in [Hollow Area List] box.
