Creating Line Tangent to Selected Shape


Select a shape locateed on the drawing to create a line tangent to the shape.
Selectable shapes are circles, arcs, ellipses, elliptical arcs and B-Splines.
The following 2 methods can be used to create a tangent line.

To display a command parameter to be executed, click / of command parameters, or press Tab key or / key on the keyboard.

  1. Point [Line] on [Shape] menu, and click [Tangent Line].
    Then you will be able to create a tangent line.
  2. Supplemental
    You can enter into the tangent line creating status by clicking on [Shape] toolbar.

When coordinates for the tangent point are fixed

  1. Switch the parameter on Command Window to [Base Shape], and click a shape to be used as a base.
  2. Click the tangent point on the base shape.
  3. Click the end point of the tangent line on the drawing.
    A tangent line to connect the start and tangent points will be created.

When coordinates for the tangent point are not fixed

  1. Switch the parameter on Command Window to [Start Point] box, and click the start point of a tangent line on the drawing.
  2. Click the tangent point on the base shape.
    A line to connect the tangent and end points will be created.
Supplemental
You can specify the tangent, start and end points by inputting X and Y coordinates in [Tangent Point], [Start Point] and [End Point] boxes on Command Window.
