[DXF/DWG File Settings - Import] Dialog Box

On [DXF/DWG File Settings - Import] dialog box, you can modify the following settings.

[Default Line Width]
Set a default line width for drawing data in DXF/DWG file in millimeters.

[White -> Black]
Turn it on to convert white color used in DXF/DWG files into black before import.

[Explode Multi Text]
Turn it on to explode multi texts in DXF/DWG files by format before import.

[Explode Lead]
Turn it on to explode leads in DXF/DWG files into lines, curves, and texts before import.

[Convert wide polyline to hatch]
Turn it on to convert wide polylines in DXF/DWG files to hatches before import.

Tip:
In AutoCAD, there is a width setting unique to polyline shapes separately from the setting for line widths ("Width" in AutoCAD). Different values can be set for the start and end sides of a line for this width, which enables drawing a trapezoidal line.
In this case, using this option to convert such wide polyline to a solid hatch with the same appearance as the original wide line. Turn it off to explode wide lines to polylines or lines and arcs before conversion.

[Explode Dimension]
Turn it on to explode dimension shapes in DXF/DWG files to lines, arcs, and texts before import.

Tip:
There is a case when a dimension shape in AutoCAD uses an arrow type not supported by RootPro CAD (such as ◎ (double circle)), like leads. In AutoCAD, it is possible to display decimal values together with values in inches using conversion units.
RootPro CAD does not support such dimension setting, but can achieve the same appearance by converting block shape data (a shape consisting of lines, arcs, and texts showing a dimension shape) saved in DXF/DWG files for dimension shapes.

Turn this option on to explode block shape data indicating dimension shapes into lines and texts. When this option is turned off, shapes will not be exploded, but converted as dimension shapes in RootPro CAD using original data attribute values, but dimension values using the aforementioned unit conversion, may not be converted, some dimension values may be displaced, or the direction of arrows may be different.

Also, some shapes in DXF/DWG files are created in CAD software other than AutoCAD, among which dimension shape attribute values do not match with a block shape indicating dimension shape. In such cases, these shapes can be displayed in RootPro CAD almost like original appearance by turning this option on.

[Specify Fill Hatch Transparency]
Tun it on to import fill hatches in DXF/DWG files by modifying the transparency.

[Fill Hatch Transparency]
When [Specify Fill Hatch Transparency] is turned on, fill hatch transparency is loaded at the input value (%).

Tip:
Depending on the display order when loaded into RootPro CAD, text shapes or other shapes may be hidden under solid hatches. To avoid this, set a value higher than 0 in this option to display shapes hidden under solid hatches.
AutoCAD of version 2011 or later supports the transparency. Therefore, hatches with the transparency set in DXF/DWG files created in AutoCAD of version 2011 or later will be transparent when converted even with [Specify Fill Hatch Transparency] off.

[Threshold of exploded shape when changing hatch pattern to solid]
Threshold of exploded shape when changing hatch pattern to solid. When it is 0, it is invalid.

Tip:
Whether or not to explode the hatch is automatically determined when converting, but if the AutoCAD pattern is user-defined, or if it is predefined or custom and has only lines (straight lines) without dashes, RootPro CAD's Converts as a hatch pattern of user-defined hatch lines.

[Block Conversion Settings]

Set block conversion and locate methods. You can explode blocks, or specify a layer locate method. Consider the priority between maintaining a block status, or making the appearance (colors or line types) closer to the original ones.

[Explode Block]
Turn it on to explode all blocks to be located to general shapes when importing DXF/DWG files. Blocked external reference drawings will not be exploded.

[Explode a block consisting of layer 0 and other layers]
Turn it on to explode a block to be located and consisting of layer 0 and other layers into general shapes when importing a DXF/DWG file. The option is valid when [Explode Block] is turned off.

[Explode block that contains shape for which ByBlock is specified]
Turn it on to explode a block to be located and containing shapes for which ByBlock is specified (in their colors, line type, or line widths) into general shapes when importing a DXF/DWG file. The option is valid when [Explode Block] is turned off.

[Locate blocks consisting of only shapes other than layer 0 without layer]
Turn it on to import a block to be located and containing all shapes on the layer 0 without a layer when importing a DXF/DWG file. The option is valid when [Explode Block] is turned off.

Tip:
Blocks in DXF/DWG files are located as INSERT (block insert) shapes in AutoCAD. In such a case, attributes of individual shapes (lines and circles) consisting of these blocks are not specified (such as red and dashed lines), but may be different depending on attributes set to the located layer like ByLayer or ByBlock or those set in INSERT shapes.
These results will also be different depending on whether the layer individual shapes are located is the "layer 0" or not. RootPro CAD does not have special specifications like "layer 0" in AutoCad, so settings are reflected simply.
Therefore, shapes in DXF/DWG files may be displayed in different color or line type in AutoCAD and in RootPro CAD. In such cases, you can match appearance of shapes by exploding them.

This explode option enables to put a priority in maintaining block statuses or in matching their appearance.
When exploded, shapes on "layer 0" will be located on the same layer as INSERT shapes to match their appearance (colors or line types) specified by ByLayer. Also, a block consisting shapes on a layer other than "layer 0" are imported without a layer, which removes image layer information for INSERT shape itself, but displayed in the same appearance as in AutoCad because colors and line types are set according to individual shape settings.
* It does not warrant all shapes are displayed in the completely same appearance.

[Adjust character height.]
Turn it on to adjust the character height when importing. You can select a setting from [Auto scale] and [Specify Ratio].

[Import Paper Space]
Turn it on to import paper space data in DXF/DWG files. Turn it off to import model space data only.

[Default Paper Setting]

Turn it on to set locate scale for paper and part drawing layout to be used when no layout information is available, such as when a DXF/DWG file consists of model space data only.

Paper

[Paper Type]
Set the type of paper. When selecting [Specify Size], input vertical and horizontal sizes of paper in [Paper Size] box.

[Paper Orientation]
Set the orientation of paper.

[Paper Size]
Displays the current paper size. When selecting [Specify Size] in [Paper Type] box, you can input vertical and horizontal sizes of paper.

Locate Scale of part drawing layout

Data on model space for a DXF/DWG file imported are converted to Part drawing 1 and located as a part drawing layout on Paper 1 in RootPro CAD.
Select [Auto scale] to automatically adjust the locate scale of part drawing layout.
Select [Specify Locate Scale] to specify a locate scale for the part drawing layout. Input a ratio in "locate scale numerator / locate scale denominator" format in [Scale] box.

Locate Origin of part drawing layout

[Base]
Select [Bottom Left of Complete Displayed Shape Area] to align the bottom left of the displayed shape area to the origin on paper. Select [Bottom Left of Complete Shape Area] to align the bottom left of the complete shape area including shapes drawn on a hidden layer to the origin on paper. Select [Origin on Part Drawing] to align the origin of the part drawing converted from model space to the origin on paper.

Tip:
When selecting [Auto scale] in the locate scale for a part drawing layout, and setting the base of the locate origin to [Origin on Part Drawing], the scale will be determined based on shapes in the area with positive X and Y coordinates.

[Margin]
Moves the locate origin from the paper origin in positive direction along X and Y axes.

[Import RootPro CAD Template file Settings]
Turn it on to import drawing settings, default shape settings, styles, and color/line type/line width tables from a specified RootPro CAD template file. Values in the color/line type/line width tables may be overwritten through conversion.

[Template filename]

Set a template file to be imported.

Tip:
To specify the normal template, leave [Template filename] blank, or specify Normal.rpct.
In other cases, specify a full path to a template file.

[Default settings]
Reset to default value.

[View before execution]
Turn it on to display this dialog box when executing import.
